Of String Theory, Aliens and the Bible

“For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.” -  Romans 1

This one will be a bit winding… but I’ve got a point… so stick with me!

In recent months we’ve seen whistleblower reports of strange or alien events that “appeared credible” on mainstream media outlets. I’m not a conspiracy theorist however, I am a pessimist regarding media reliability. There’s also an awful lot of weird and wacky reports across mainstream and internet media that are difficult to believe. It’s not as if there’s a lack of precedent for mass media and culture to embrace the unbelievable. Sometimes our perception of the world is grainy at best. Even the most intelligent humans have a limited understanding of the universe, its creation, its workings, or its fine tuning. Let’s talk about String Theory, Aliens and the Bible!

Dimensions, Science, and the Unknown

The human race lives in a three-dimensional world. Everything around us—from houses to everyday objects—has height, length, and width that we can see, hear, and act upon. We manipulate these dimensions easily by moving forward, backward, upward, and downward. This is essentially the limit of our capacity to understand or manipulate our environment. Since the Garden of Eden, the sons of Adam (that’s us) have tried to move past this rudimentary understanding. From Genesis 6 to the Tower of Babel and beyond, we dream about the supernatural.

In 1905 Albert Einstein revealed his Theory of Relativity, showing space intimately connected with time via the cosmic speed limit of light. He described a four-dimensional world, with time as the fourth dimension. Science later discovered time has a beginning—the universe is expanding, so rewinding it leads back to a starting point when everything boomed into existence.

In the 1920s, physicists Oskar Klein and Theodor Kaluza, inspired by Einstein, proposed a fifth dimension labeled “electromagnetic force.” Their theory took a hit with the discovery of strong and weak nuclear forces. The idea of extra dimensions explaining forces was revived by string theory. String theory views the universe’s building blocks not as particles but as tiny vibrating “strings” of mass-energy in a 10-dimensional space-time, with six dimensions rolled up smaller than an atom. I could dive into the 6th to 10th dimensions, but I’m already far over my head. My point isn’t mastering the science—that way lies madness.

The world and known universe remain a mystery. From the moment Adam and Eve took the fruit, mankind has quested to be more than human. The fallen nature of men is this desire for God’s power without submission to God.

Supernatural Incursions and Biblical Parallels

In Genesis 6 we read of the second major attempt to destroy mankind and create a transhuman race. It nearly succeeded, but God—who lives both outside and inside time—had a plan. Only Noah’s pure bloodline remained, a key reason for the worldwide flood. The next major showdown between Lucifer and YHWH came at the Cross of Calvary.

I watched a short interview where they asked what most pastors avoid: “If it was proven today that aliens are real, would that change your faith?” I’m comfortable enough that mine would remain sound, because I’ve read Genesis 6 and Jesus’ words about the last days. I’ve challenged my beliefs with hard questions.

Most would say “no,” but how many have truly thought it through?

With UFO interactions, there are too many to dismiss as mere conspiracy or hysteria. While many are fraudulent, some defy explanation. No evidence shows otherworldly flight technology entering from outer space, so we need another lens.

Considering the dimensional theories above, what we see could be fourth- or fifth-dimensional activity appearing in our three-dimensional world. This was hard to grasp before Genesis 6, and it remains difficult today.

Consider Elisha’s servant, panicked by an surrounding army. When his eyes were opened:

“Don’t be afraid!” Elisha told him. “For there are more on our side than on theirs!” Then Elisha prayed, “O Lord, open his eyes and let him see!” The Lord opened the young man’s eyes, and when he looked up, he saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire.” - 2 Kings 6

Then there’s Philip in Acts, instantly transported:

“When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord snatched Philip away. The eunuch never saw him again but went on his way rejoicing. Meanwhile, Philip found himself farther north at the town of Azotus. He preached the Good News there and in every town along the way until he came to Caesarea.” - Acts 8

God’s Infinite Sovereignty

Ignoring what we don’t want to face helps our faith nothing. Our faith should not be blind but always searching and proving truth. Since Einstein, science has realized it knows nothing.

The God of the Bible is all-powerful. He is not bound by our world’s perception or even by angels’ dimensional perception. If string theory is correct with 10 dimensions, a God who created the universe with a word governs infinitely more—all simultaneously. This is incomprehensible to our finite minds.

So much of our conflict, unbelief, doubt, understanding, and rebellion comes from trying to comprehend an infinitely more powerful God with the smartest AI or human technology.

Of those who attempt to be God or subvert truth about Himself, the one triune God says in Psalms 2:

“Why are the nations in an uproar And the peoples devising a vain thing? The kings of the earth take their stand And the rulers take counsel together Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying, “Let us tear their fetters apart And cast away their cords from us!” He who sits in the heavens laughs, The Lord scoffs at them. Then He will speak to them in His anger And terrify them in His fury, saying, “But as for Me, I have installed My King Upon Zion, My holy mountain.Jesus warned additionally warned us in Matthew: “For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.”

Transhumanism is rising today again — AI chips, genome changes, cloning—as if driven by the same fallen angels in Genesis 6...and yet according to Psalms 2, the God of creation is unconcerned, and neither should we be.

The calling on the Christian is to serve Christ wholeheartedly and seek intimacy with Him. God has whatever is coming. There is no need for fear.

The other shoe will drop eventually… 2 Thessalonians 2 and 2 Timothy 3 speak of coming days and a falling away. Like sheep in raging winds, we can endure if we hear our Shepherd’s voice.

I’ll leave Psalm 139 here to help us grasp God’s immense power:

“O Lord, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether. You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it. Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me. If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night,” even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you. For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I would count them, they are more than the sand. I awake, and I am still with you.”

God has this all under control. Our place is to let the Holy Spirit transform our hearts and minds into alignment with His plans. Christ is the only otherworldly being I want to hear from!
